Dottorato in Informatica, Bologna-Padova

Information for candidates

The results of the admission evaluation will be published on www.almawelcome.unibo.it shortly. Please check every day the link, since you have 10 days from publication to complete the admission procedure

An official description of the dottorato and of the admission procedure may be found here (in Italian) or here (in English).

Admission to the PhD program is based on examination, which takes place in the fall (for courses starting the following January). The examination will evaluate both the background and the potential for research of the candidate. All candidates are evaluated on their curriculum, statement of purpose (brief research project), and letters of reference. The admission committee will short-list some of the candidates, who will be asked to attend an oral interview. For Italian candidates this is an in-person oral examination. For foreigners, the interview can take place with other means (e.g., video conference on Internet).

The final list of accepted students will be known in early October 2011.

Applications must be completed on-line on www.almawelcome.unibo.it by September 8, 2011. Further imformation on application, including the call can be found here. Either you are an Italian or a foreign student, remember that you must present your documents together with the application. These documents include:

  • your curriculum vitae;
  • a statement of purpose (or brief research program) (one page);
  • at least one reference letter.

If you have already an idea of your research area, it could be a good idea to contact in advance a member of the faculty of the Dpt of Computer Science doing research on that topic. Reference letters are of paramount importance.
