Title
"Performance Evaluation of Complex Systems: from Large Software
Architectures to the Cell Processor"
Abstract
While developing complex systems such as large software artifacts,
it is important to ensure that the system satisfies its functional
and non-functional requirements; in particular, the system must
provide an appropriate level of performance. In this talk we show
how performance modeling techniques can be applied during the early
stages of the software development process, helping the software
architect to analyze multiple design alternatives. The proposed
technique is quite general, and has been applied also to the
evaluation of Web Service workflows. Finally, we introduce how the
same approach can be further extended to the performance analysis
of applications running on the Cell Broadband Engine, a recently
developed processor with an interesting (alghough quite complex)
internal structure.
